Frankfort Plays: It's a Teen Book Club (Gr. 6-12)

3:45 PM - 4:30 PM
Orbiting Jupiter
FRANKFORT PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT
Meeting Room A
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) members discuss their monthly reads, be it something awesome or something lame.  Hang out with your TAB family and talk about what you've been reading and what you should NOT be reading.

We will pick a monthly book to read as a group, but please be ready to share other reads as well!  This month's selection is Orbiting Jupiter by Gary Schmidt.  Jack tells the gripping story of Joseph, who joins Jack's family as a foster child.  Damaged in prison, Joseph wants nothing more than to find his baby daughter, Jupiter, whom he has never seen.  When Joseph begins to believe he'll have a future, demons from his past confront him and force a tragic sacrifice.  With authentic characters, spare prose, and a serious tone, this book is emotionally tense and leaves you with a haunting ending.  Copies of the book will be made available for check out at the library one month prior to the meeting date.
