LGBT+ Book Club—Are you part of the community? Questioning? Has someone you love come out of the closet? Do you just want to learn what all the letters mean? Ages 16+ coming together to read fiction and nonfiction books about the history of the LGBT+ community, what it means to be LGBT+ today, and how to support the people we love.

 This month, we are discussing Then Comes Marriage: United States v. Windsor and the Defeat of DOMA by Roberta Kaplan, which explains the first civil rights victory towards same-sex marriage in a beautiful love story of Edie and Thea and their 42 year long engagement.

 Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk one month before the meeting date. Register online or call 815-534-6173.

Sign up to use one of our sewing machines or our Silhouette Cameo cutter. Make your own projects: sew hems, pillows, skirts & more, or use the cutter to make cards, stickers, decals, or other paper crafts. Staff will provide assistance with using the machines and the Silhouette software.

Learning About the Opioid Epidemic

According to the Frankfort Fire Department, there were 31 overdoses of opioids in Frankfort alone last year. Most of the overdoses come from people ages 15-34. What puts you at risk? What can you do to take care of yourself and your community? 

LTM, a group named after a young man who overdosed and died at the age of 24, will be coming in to speak to teens and their parents about the dangers of opioids, what risk factors are, misconceptions about drug addiction, and what to do if you, your friend, or your child are addicted.
