Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a Young Man

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Meeting Room A/B

Event Details

Celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. with nationally known, award-winning speaker and storyteller, Linda Gorham.

Many people think of Martin Luther King, Jr. as an adult. Most of his pictures show him in a black suit with a dark tie as he is giving passionate speeches. For many of us, we rarely think of him as a boy growing up in the south. His youthful experiences with segregation likely inspired him and gave him the impetus to march, write, and speak out so that the laws in the United States could be changed to protect all people.

Ms. Gorham will tell the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr as a youth and teenager. She will also tell a bit about how King came to head the Montgomery Bus Boycott that began after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus.

For ages 8-108!
